SIX SATURDAYS A WEEK
This web site was created in May 2009 by a senior citizen with traditional Christian family values. It is for anyone of any age who is retired or is even thinking of being retired someday and that includes just about everyone on the planet. Maybe you won a lottery, inherited money, received a cash settlement, severance pay, or you have just worked hard and saved enough to retire. Retirement does not come at any certain age; it comes at a certain attitude. Retirement is not an age, it is an attitude. Before I became retired (or semi-retired), I asked a man that made a million dollars in a real estate deal and retired in his fifties what retirement was like? His response was “every week of retirement is like living six Saturdays and then there is Sunday.” I thought, “That sounds great.” Six days to enjoy life and one day to give thanks to GOD for our blessings. That thought stuck with me and that is how I named this web site.
Although we do not think about it much, we all know web sites are world wide so the statement above may not make sense to many of you around the world so I will explain. Most of the people in the United States of America are Christians and Sunday is our day of worship. Many Americans work five days a week making a living and are off on the weekends. Saturdays are usually the day of the week most people in the United States have off to do what they personally want to do. For that reason, many people would consider Saturday the best day of the week. So what would the best way to enjoy retirement? To me it would be to have six of the best days of the week in a row and then your day of worship. (If your day of worship is Saturday maybe I should have called it Six Sundays a Week) but I think you get the general idea.
This web site is about Enjoying Retirement. This web site is not about any one side of politics or any particular religion. It does not matter to me what religion you believe in or if you believe in any God or not. However, I might throw out this question to anyone that says they do not at least believe in a higher power. If you fell overboard from a ship and were left in the ocean to possibly die, who is that voice in your head asking for help, talking to? I believe it is GOD and that would be the time might want to re-think your belief.
It is my belief that all of us on this planet want the same thing. We want to be happy and we want to be comfortable. Even the most horrible people in history just wanted to be happy and comfortable but they were clueless about how to evaluate life and achieve those goals. For most of us, life is a little more logical and basic. To me life is all about being happy and comfortable, for many that is retirement. As I said earlier “Retirement is not an age, it is an attitude.” To me happiness comes from helping others, being a caring sharing person, and trying to make the world a better place to live. This web site is for all to enjoy in the hope we can share knowledge with each other and enjoy our retirement years to the fullest.
AARP IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE NATIONS BEST RECOGNIZED, LARGEST MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION FOR PEOPLE OVER FIFTY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. IT HAS OVER 40 MILLION MEMBERS. WHEN WE STARTED THIS WEBSITE, WE DID NOT INTEND TO TRY TO COMPETE WITH AARP. HOWEVER, WITH AARP TAKING THE SIDE OF THE POLITICIANS IN WASHINGTON INSTEAD OF THE SIDE OF ITS SENIOR MEMBERS WE NOW THINK DIFFERENTLY.
SOME POLLS SHOW 66% OF THE NATION AS A WHOLE AND 80% OF SENIORS ARE AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF HEALTH CARE. AARP IS NO LONGER LISTENING TO THEIR MEMBERSHIP. FOR THAT REASON, WE NOW OFFER OURSELVES AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO AARP. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU DROP YOUR AARP MEMBERSHIP BUT WOULD YOU PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING OUR GROUP ALSO ?
