For most of us, our daily lives are a busy schedule of activities that need to be completed. A holiday is a time that everyone, the young, and the old look forward to. After all, a holiday or vacation brings up the opportunity to visit new and unusual places. The Central America nation Panama is a great place for you to visit.

The country is nestled between North America and South America and flanked by the North Pacific Ocean to the West and the Caribbean Sea to the East. Panama vacations offer a multitude of environments and activities to its visitors. You can visit a volcano, dive and snorkel, visit bays and coves once used by pirates for refuge and have an adventure exploring tropical rainforest, all in a single vacation.

You may have seen glimpses of Panama on the two series of the American TV show ‘Survivor’. The Pearl Islands are a great tourist attraction but there is much more to explore in the country. Spend a day or two exploring the Panama Canal and you could even take a cruise through it and visit its lakes and locks.

Plan your vacation

To plan your Panama vacation you need to decide on what you want to see in the country and also your budget. If you come during the off season the flight and hotel cost will much lesser. The tourist season starts in December and ends in May. These are the months when it rains lesser than it does during the rest of the year. You could opt to stay at a hotel, hostel or consider a rental. Most places offer comfortable to luxurious accommodations that may your stay memorable.

A rental is especially great for families and for friends traveling together. You have more privacy and space than you would get in most hotels. Also you could use the rental as a base for your explorations around the country.

Panama East offers you a look at the most undeveloped part of the country. This is an adventure that shouldn’t be missed. Do come prepared for pretty rustic living conditions but the experience of being out in the wild makes up for it. You can go diving in the Caribbean Sea, explore ruins of a Spanish fort and go canoeing down a jungle river. You will also have an opportunity to see the tribal communities here up close.

If you are looking for a luxurious vacation then consider one of the several resorts and hotels in the country. The Decameron resort is amongst the favorites for people of all ages. For an idyllic holiday spend a few days at Boca Del Toro and enjoy the aquamarine waters and splendid beauty of the islands here.

How about spending a few days exploring the area around the volcano Baru? The city of Boquete is an especially popular tourist spot and is surrounded by coffee plantations. The weather here is pleasant all year long, making it a popular holiday destination. Shop for some wonderful coffee grown in the area and handicrafts made by the Guyamies, one of the country’s many ethic groups.

It is the diverse experiences that the country offers its visitors that make their vacations a treat. It is thus not surprising that more and more visitors are investing in real estate here.

AARP has it wrong and NARP-National Association of Retired People has it right. What is needed is real insurance competition…the availability of insurance across state lines through out the United States.

Polls show 80% of seniors’ are not in favor of the government take over of health care. Still the AARP supports the governments’ side instead of the side of its members. NARP-National Association of Retired People (an alternative to AARP) supports the side of the 80% of the seniors’.

There are presently about 1,300 health insurance companies in the U.S. It is estimated that if the government takes over the major part of health care there will only be about fifty. This might possibly be the reason AARP is in favor of a government take over of health care. They probably think they will represent one of the fifty health insurance survivors. Less competition is not good for pricing and not good for seniors.

If the government were truly, interested lowering the cost of health care then it would be better if the government stayed out of it and let the insurance companies compete across all state lines. That is how they do it with life insurance and automobile insurance and it works out just fine. In addition, it would allow people to own their own insurance policy just like life insurance and not have it tied to their employer or union. The freedom of competition and choice would quickly bring down premium prices nation wide. If people paid for their own health care instead of their employer paying for it (and the government allowed a tax credit) all of a sudden policy cost would matter.

Look how crazy a government run health care system sounds for the United States. Think about health care as a grocery store. If the government said, we are going to provide you with food and you had a government card to buy food you would not care what the grocery store was charging…because price would not be your main concern. That is the way it will be with government run health care…the consumer will not care about cost. You bring down costs when it directly affects the consumer.

Today when a person receives a welfare card or food stamps, they go to the grocery store and buy whatever they want…not caring about the cost. When the credit on the card is used up then they reach in their pocket and buy more. That will not be the case with health care. You will not be able to reach in your pocket and buy more health care…therefore; there will be health care rationing. The whole concept of government run health care is a bad idea.

For seniors it will be like having the entire population on Medicare and that is a very bad idea. We seniors receive good health care now because the rest of the system is picking up part of the cost. If the rest of the population goes on a (government run) Medicare type program it will be totally unsustainable. They already tell us that Medicare and Medicaid are going broke and that is what they want to do with the entire health care system. The quality of health care will go down and there will be long delays in testing and care. There will be some services no longer available to seniors. I ask AARP…how is that good for seniors?

Source: By Carl Wheeler - Author and Publisher

AARP has it wrong and NARP-National Association of Retired People has it right. Why does AARP think a government take over of health care could possibly be good for seniors? The cost is just too much.

At a time when the government spending is out of control, they want to spend more money. Seniors say fund Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid first…do not take on any more programs and that includes health care. The politicians say Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid will be broke in a few years. Then I ask the question…why is anyone talking about spending another one or two trillion dollars more on health care? How does AARP think that is good for their senior members? Seniors need their Social Security and Medicare programs to be financially secure, fix that first.

The proposed financial cost of the government take over of health care is just too much. The politicians say it is not a “government take over” of the health care system. If that is not what it is then why are they proposing spending one or two trillion dollars on it? They can call it what they want but we seniors know what it is. We let the politicians slip through the $787 billion stimulus bill without reading it…giving Washington a big fat blank check. Now they want to do the same with health care. We seniors cannot let that happen.

Did you know that the government run health care in England is the third largest employer in the world? They employ 1.4 million people followed only behind the Red Army of China and the Indian National Railways the worlds’ two largest employers. Can you imagine how large an employer the US government run health care system would be? Wow, what an opportunity for our unions here in the United States. That does not sound good…does it?

In England, here are a few of the wait times for surgery. Cataract surgery…8 months, Hip Replacement…11 months, knee replacement…12 months, slipped disk…5 months, hernia repair…5 months. You cannot get heart bypass surgery or a stint if you are over 59 years old. There are long waits for cancer tests and cancer treatment. It is estimated that 10,000 people die a year in England because they cannot get timely medical testing and care. You cannot go out and get care outside of the system even if you have the money. That is the way it could be here.

We already know how bad the government is at estimating the cost of running anything. Medicare and Medicaid are already running at a loss and now the politicians want to run the medical system. We cannot afford government run health care at any price. Why is AARP siding with the government on this one?

That will mean that the present number of doctors and hospitals will immediately be overloaded with patients. I ask the question to AARP…how will that be good for seniors? That sounds like someone including seniors will have to take a cut in the medical services and wait longer to get care.

If we do not immediately come up with another 200,000, doctors there will be shortages in health care providers. If the government can come up with more doctors, they will have to come from foreign countries with probably lower education standards than we have here in the USA. Many patients could end up receiving a much lower quality of health care. How would that be better for seniors?

AARP makes millions of dollars by selling health insurance. I ask the question…could AARP be thinking that somehow if the government takes over health care they will benefit by selling more health insurance? So far, I have not heard the government explain one advantage to seniors for the government to run health care. So again, I ask…why is AARP for the government plan especially when we don’t know exactly what the plan is going to be?

The government is discussing cutting the amount doctors and hospitals will be paid. Politicians say they want to pay the doctors not for the service they perform but for patient health results. This kind of statement comes from politicians that have never been in business or ever run a business in their entire life. Obviously, someone making that kind of statement no matter what his or her position in government may be just does not understand the situation.

When you put a rebuilt engine or transmission in a car, it may work out just fine and occasionally it does not. When you do open heart surgery or remove a cancer sometimes, it works out just fine and sometimes it does not. Every case is different with each patient…very seldom are all things the same. Some times the doctor has to run many test on a patient to understand what is wrong. I know a man that had to have four of the same test run to discover that he needed bypass surgery.

My own wife had several scans on her back that found nothing yet my wife had back pain so bad she could hardly walk. After several long discussions with the doctor, he sent us to another hospital that had a more sophisticated scanning machine that found the nerve problem in her back. The neurosurgeon operated and now she walks just fine. With a government run health care system she might not have been able to run enough tests to receive the right treatment.

Doctors and hospitals have a certain amount of business operating overhead no matter what the government thinks. Right now about 8% of the total cost of treatment for Medicare and Medicaid patients comes out of the pocket of the doctors and hospitals. The politicians want to put the entire system on this kind of pricing. Some hospitals and doctors will have to go out of business and that will not be good for seniors.

My wife’s doctor said she would stop practicing medicine if they cut allowable charges back too much. I have heard that as many as twenty percent of all doctors feel the same way. As a result of politicians making pricing decisions instead of the free market setting pricing we might have a giant shortage of doctors in the near future. Changing the way doctors are paid is not the answer to cutting health care costs and having government bureaucrats make decisions is even worse.

Many seniors (around 22%) have what is called Medicare Advantage supplemental insurance. The President has indicated he plans to cut $180 billion out of that program to save money. Lets’ ask AARP…how is that going to be good for seniors. If those cuts go into effect, the doctor will be paid less and not want to see seniors or seniors will receive less care. Possibly that program will ultimately be dropped all together. Either way it is not good for seniors. The bottom line to all of this government involvement in health care will result in less care for seniors. Why is AARP not on your side? NARP truly understands why seniors are worried.

As a senior myself, here is the problem I have with the opinion of AARP. They are supporting a health care program that has not yet been written and finalized. That would be like buying a house from an article in the paper without ever seeing the house. That is like having the real estate agent say trust me you don’t have to see it because it is a real good deal, just sign right here. Some politicians in Washington and apparently AARP seem to think that it standard operating procedure. Isn’t that what happened with the $787 billion stimulus bill that no one read? Are we seniors happy with that? Do we actually know what is in the stimulus bill? Do we know where that money is going? Will it be spent wisely? Is it presently getting the desired result? Is anyone in the country having second thoughts about all this spending? Does anyone in Washington or AARP really know what is going on or are they just going along with the party in power? We gave them a blank check with the stimulus package…we can not let that happen to health care.

AARP has it wrong and NARP-National Association of Retired People has it right. Why does AARP think a government take over of health care could possibly be good for seniors?

I am one senior citizen that thinks AARP sold us out. I thought AARP was supposed to be for seniors, now I think they are for the politicians. AARP came out in favor the government takeover of healthcare (they don‘t call it that, I call it that). I read AARP’s list of reasons for support of new legislation and it sounds very lofty and idealistic. “We all have a role to play individuals, providers, purchasers, insurers, and the government.” What role do we “senior individuals” have to play? Go home and die because the government eliminates health care services we now receive. The one thing AARP should have said is that THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT RUN OR CONTROL THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. To begin with, they say our healthcare system is broken but it is not. WE HAVE THE BEST HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS IN THE WORLD. Americans do not leave this country to get better healthcare in another country. It is the other way around, world leaders come here for medical treatment. AARP SHOULD HAVE STOOD UP FOR THEIR 40 MILLION MEMBERS AND SAID NO TO THE GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF OUR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

AARP sells hundreds of millions of dollars of medical insurance to seniors. They were afraid of losing that revenue and made a wink and nod agreement with the politicians. Presently there about 1,300 health care insurance companies in the US. It is estimated that number will be reduced to about 50 in the first few years of the new plan. Does AARP really think they can trust any of the politicians in Washington? Did you see how 200 years of law was thrown out the window when it came to the government takeover of General Motors and Chrysler? Ask the 100,000 individual secured bondholders that were screwed out of 70% of their secured money if they trust the politicians. By the way, most of them were seniors. AARP and the insurance companies will be shocked in a few years when the government tells them there will only be one health insurance plan run by the government and their services will not be needed. I do not think the Republicans or the Democrats in Washington can be trusted. Politics has become only about “what’s in it for me right now” and control, not about what is best for the American people. The politicians love their power. Do you really feel AARP is looking out for you?

The government really does not care about providing good health care in America for everyone; they care about the government-running health care in America. It is about government control of another major section of the economy and your life. If all they really wanted to do, was guarantee health care for everyone it would only cost between $29 to $40 billion extra over today’s costs; and the rest of us could continue with the good health care we have now without the government control. It could all be paid for out of stopping even part of the $200 billion in medical fraud each year. If they did that one thing, there would be no need to raise taxes or have the government take over our health care system. Tell that to your politicians.

If the government takes over health care, they will control about sixty percent of the US economy. They already control the Banks, Insurance (AIG), Auto Industry (GM & Chrysler), Mortgage (Fannie Mae & Freddy Mack), and now they want to take over healthcare. If you are a senior citizen and the government takes over health care, they are going to tell us at what age we live or die. Maybe you are like me and had heart bypass surgery at age 58 and I will probably need it again at age 75 (because it usually only last 15 or 20 years). I am worried because at some point some board or administrator may tell me I am too old for another bypass because it is not cost effective for someone my age. If that happens I guess they will tell me it is not covered by Medicare, I will just have to go home and die.

After they get us all on the government plan they can make us do anything they want not necessarily, what is the best for you to live longer. I am 69 years old (the same age as Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House). I think you seniors and I are entitled to the same healthcare opportunities as she and Ted Kennedy. These politicians will not have the same health care insurance rules we on Medicare are being asked to accept. Under the new plan if you are Ted Kennedy’s age, you could not get the brain surgery he received. What is wrong with what the government is trying to do is, limiting how your Doctor can treat you. Moreover, what is worse, if they say it is not covered by Medicare it will be illegal for you to go out and pay for better treatment out of your own pocket that is just not right?

If these politicians take over health care, your life, and my life just got shorter. This applies to you young people as well. The President’s chief health care policy advisors Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel (brother of Rohm Emanuel the president‘s chief of staff) has written extensively that the elderly should get less health care He thinks that incurable illnesses such as dementia should not get continued health care. He says because they no longer contribute to society. Does this apply to Down syndrome babies, badly injured soldiers and to paraplegics as well? He also is a leading proponent of state assisted suicide. He is a very brilliant man but these are not the views most of us here in the United States of America. That sounds more like Nazi Germany back in the late thirties. How does AARP think this kind of thinking is good for seniors?

Like I just said, even if you have the money to pay for it out of your own pocket it will be against the law. To me that is just not right, it is outrageous, this is not Cuba, China, or Russia this is the United States of America. You may ask why I called all of them. The other day I saw a Senator on TV that said he was getting calls from all over the country and he appreciated hearing the pulse of the nation. He thought it was a good idea to contact each of them and let them know what people all across the country are thinking.

The administration is very smooth about how they promote the government take over of health care. When the Clinton’s tried, the governments take over of health care, they called it health care reform, and it died. These politicians started that way but have changed what they call it. Now they call it health insurance reform. It is the same thing. They are just trying to blame the insurance companies for high prices and divert your attention away from their real agenda to take over. The government wants to take over health care and have control over your life and your death.

The myth is they are trying to sell us the idea the system is broken and they can fix it. We all know the truth is WE HAVE THE BEST HEALTH CARE IN THE WORLD, they want to take control, and they will ruin it. People from the United States are not leaving this country to go anywhere else for medical treatment. If our system is so bad, why do Kings and leaders of other countries come here to get medical care? This is all about control and power it is not about giving health care to everyone. Anyone that needs emergency health care can get it right now if you have the money or not. They can call it anything they want but it is about control of your life.

IF THEY ONCE GET ANY KIND OF GOVERNMENT HEALTH INSURANCE, LIFE IN AMERICA WILL NEVER THE SAME. They will gradually nudge you into their plan and ultimately make everyone on the government plan (except the politicians and some unions). All of the politicians have private health insurance plans and every December they can choose to change if they want. In the new proposal if you ever for any reason want to switch health insurance you can only go into the government plan, which is just wrong.

All of you young people beware. If you feel like you cannot afford health insurance with your present lifestyle, the government will make you buy it anyway. Health insurance may cost you as much as $6,000 a year and if you do not buy it they may fine you a fine of $3,800 a year. That is just not right. You should be able chose what you think is best for yourself. This universal health care is flawed from the start. There are many ways to reduce health care costs without government control. If the politicians and unions do not switch to the government health insurance plan then you know the politicians have lied to us but by then it will be too late. This is not about either side of politics this is about the lives and well-being of all Americans. GOD HELP US ALL IF THIS HEALTH CARE PASSES IN ANY FORM.

MOLOKAI

Born of volcanic eruptions 1.5 million years ago, Molokai remains a time capsule on the dawn of the 21st century. It has no deluxe resorts, no stoplights, and no buildings taller than a coconut tree. Molokai is the least developed, most Hawaiian of all the islands, making it especially attractive to adventure travelers and peace seekers.

Not everyone will love Molokai. The slow-paced, simple life of the people and the absence of contemporary landmarks attract those in search of the “real” Hawaii. This is a place where Mother Nature is wild and uninhibited, with very little intrusion by man. Forget sophistication, this is one of the few spots on the planet where one can stand in awe of the island’s diverse natural wonders: Hawaii’s highest waterfall and greatest collection of fishponds; the world’s tallest sea cliffs; sand dunes, coral reefs, rainforests, and hidden coves; and gloriously empty beaches.

MAUI

The island of Maui is one of the most geographically diverse islands in the world. With four distinctly different microclimates, housed inside 727 square-miles, it truly offers something for everyone. The island’s as lush as an equatorial rainforest in Hana, as dry as the Arizona desert in Makena, as hot as Mexico in Lahaina and as cool and misty as Oregon up in Kula. In addition, this pacific island boasts two peaks more than a mile high, 120 miles of shoreline, thousands of waterfalls and more than 80 golden sand beaches.

The most popular areas include:

Lahaina, Kaanapali and Kapalua along the West Side, Hana along the East Side at the end of the famous “Road to Hana” and Wailea and Makena along the South Side.

You can snorkel along the famous Molokini Crater or catch a sunrise at the summit of Haleakala National Park (10,000 feet) and experience the 26-mile downhill bike-ride back to the ocean. You can bask on the white sand beaches of Wailea or hike through the rainforests near Hana. Whatever you desire, Maui has it all.

BIG ISLAND

Most people are surprised to learn that the Big Island of Hawaii has an unmatched diversity of terrain and climate. While most people think only of active volcanoes and black lava fields, The Big Island also offers snow-capped peaks, tropical rainforests, waterfalls, alpine meadows, a glacial lake, and miles of golden, black, and even greensand beaches. As the largest of all the Hawaiian Islands (prepare for a lot of driving if you’re into sightseeing), and the least populated, this is where Mother Nature really shows her magic. Nowhere else can you snowboard and surf all in the same day!

The popular areas include The Kohala Coast and Kona Coast on the West Side, Hilo on the East Side and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in the Southeast.

If big-game fishing, golfing, mountain hiking/biking, and other water activities excite you, and you want to see nature in its most primal state, look no further than Hawaii’s BIG ISLAND.

OAHU

Home to the North Shore, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, and Waikiki Beach, the island of Oahu is unlike any other. With a population of around 900,000, the island of Oahu houses nearly 75% of all Hawaiian residents. It’s like a mini Tokyo or San Francisco in the middle of the Pacific and, as a result, excitement abounds. There’s never a dull moment. From shopping and dining to hiking and snorkeling Oahu has it all in spades. Moreover, with its nearly perfect climate-a perpetual late spring with 82-degree days almost year round-you’ll understand why nearly a million people choose to call this place home.

Waikiki Beach is one of the busiest places on the planet. The vibe is urban, youthful, and energetic. The nightlife is terrific. If you’re looking for excitement in your Hawaiian vacation, and don’t mind the crowds, Waikiki/Honolulu is perfect.

The North Shore - With its monster waves, surfers, tropical jungles, waterfalls and mysterious Hawaiian temples, this section of Oahu lives up to the hype. The pace is very laidback and most visitors come for the scenery, swimming, snorkeling/diving, surfing and beautiful beaches. Though only 60 minutes from Waikiki, The North Shore seems a world away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu.

KAUAI

Home to the famous Na Pali Coast, Waimea Canyon (i.e. “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific”) and Voted “Best Hawaiian Island” by the readers of Travel & Leisure Magazine for several years in a row, the island of Kauai is one of the world’s most spectacular islands, With its jagged peaks, deep winding canyons, endless pastures and sparking waterfalls, Kauai does not disappoint. Hollywood moviemakers love Kauai’s lush landscape and have used it as the backdrop to many films like South Pacific and Jurassic Park.

The most popular areas are: Poipu, Lihue, Kapaa and Hanalei/Princeville

The rule on Kauai is that no structure be taller than a coconut tree (about 3 or 4 stories high). As a result, the island itself is the main draw, not its high-rise hotels. If you like, discovering hidden beaches, hiking through mountain trails, kayaking through canyons, and snorkeling in clear lagoons is your idea of a Hawaiian vacation, look no further than KAUAI.

I drove a 1947 Chevrolet and later an army jeep but my rich friends had 1955, 56 and 57 Chevy’s one or two had 1957 & 58 Corvettes. One friend’s father purchased one of the first corvettes back in 1954. One rich friend had 1955 T-Bird and later a 1957 T-Bird. So when a friend emailed me the pictures I am about to show it really got my heart pounding with some great teenage memories. It is the collection of Rick Treworgy in the town of Punta Gorda, Florida (about 50 miles north of Naples. We make nothing from promoting this website but I just wanted to share this information with you as someone shared it with me. I hope it will bring back some good memories for you as it did for me. I think I saw some seniors having a good time visiting there. I hope to go visit this collection myself in the very near future.

The era of hope and change is dead….and it only took six months in office to kill it.

Never has an administration taken office with more inflated expectations of turning Washington around. Never have a media-anointed American Idol and his entourage fallen so fast and hard. In her latest investigative tour de force, New York Times bestselling author Michelle Malkin delivers a powerful, damning, and comprehensive indictment of the culture of corruption that surrounds Team Obama’s brazen tax evaders, Wall Street cronies, petty crooks, slum lords, and business-as-usual influence peddlers. In Culture of Corruption, Malkin reveals:

* Why nepotism beneficiaries First Lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are Team Obama’s biggest liberal hypocrites–bashing the corporate world and influence-peddling industries from which they and their relatives have benefited mightily

* What secrets the ethics-deficient members of Obama’s cabinet–including Hillary Clinton–are trying to hide

* Why the Obama White House has more power-hungry, unaccountable “czars” than any other administration

* How Team Obama’s first one hundred days of appointments became a litany of embarrassments as would-be appointee after would-be appointee was exposed as a tax cheat or had to withdraw for other reasons

* How Obama’s old ACORN and union cronies have squandered millions of taxpayer dollars and dues money to enrich themselves and expand their power

* How Obama’s Wall Street money men and corporate lobbyists are ruining the economy and helping their friends In Culture of Corruption, Michelle Malkin lays bare the Obama administration’s seamy underside that the liberal media would rather keep hidden.
